restocking PUL

July 16th, 2007 (01:20 pm)

I've restocked the PUL yardage and we have a couple new colors including medium blue, raspberry, magenta, light brown (it's a bit lighter than the pic, I'm still trying to get a scan that's more true to the color) and kaleidoscope. I now have a total of 21 different colors to choose from. I will be adding more pre-cut PUL to the store this week. I'm hoping to find time to do that in the next day or two.

New PUL colors, and now cuts available too

cheerful

current location: dining room table
current mood: cheerful
current song: my son playing with legos

I've restocked our PUL, we've been selling a lot more of it this year and I'm very happy about that. Reordering also means we have a few new colors. Ocean, light blue, and neon green to name a few. We also have more of some of the colors we've always had. Unfortunately it also meant raising our prices slightly. PUL by the yard has gone up 25 cents due to an increase in manufacturing costs and shipping. On the upside, if things keep going the way they have so far this year, we'll be ordering more in a couple months. Which would most likely mean restocking existing colors again as well as adding a couple new ones. It's great to see the business growing. Maybe someday I'll even make money :P

Another new addition is our "pre-cut PUL" they're essentially diaper cuts. Available in a few colors in different sizes. It's a great way for our customers to get enough PUL for one diaper or a few cloth pads without having an entire stash (or half, depending on the size of your diapers and your stash) in one color. It is a little more costly, but much cheaper then buying a yard each of 6 different colors and having extra pul sitting around. It's also a great way for us not to waste the smaller than a yard end of rolls. Since I don't have much time for sewing right now. Plus my little guy is through with diapers. So I don't have a use for it unless we decide to have another one. Or I finally get around to making diapers for the store.

Those are really the only new things happening around here at Everyday Goods. Life continues as usual with trips to the park, the coffee house with daddy on weekends, and walks to the post office whenever we get an order.

I hope everyone reading this is doing well, and enjoying life as much as I am.

BTW, feel free to mention our new pre-cut pul to anyone who might be interested. The only reason we're growing this year is because of our customers and their word of mouth advertising. Which is great. I'm glad that our customers are that happy with our customer service and prices that they are sending others our way. :)

Sale! yep that's right, many things are on special

November 14th, 2006 (01:18 pm)

I've got this crazy notion in my mind that I'd like to break even this year. I've heard that businesses are supposed to be profitable and maybe that's true, but that's not this years goal. Next year maybe. The only way to accomplish this is to sell stuff! So in trying to encourage people to buy things I've marked many items on special: wash cloth bibs, cloth grocery bags, wet bags, they're all marked down. Even the seconds are marked down a little lower! Or you can go here to view all specials.

On an unrelated note. Having things get lost in the mail sucks. I've lost a rather large batch of labels, the woven kind I sew on to all my things. They were on their way to me and somehow vanished. The company has decided to remake and send them to me. In the mean time, while they were waiting to see if they showed up somewhere I reordered them. So I should have some on the way soon, and then more about two weeks later. I guess this means I'll need to make twice as many things. It's also set me back though, not only financially, but also because I'm out of labels. I was trying to avoid that, and ordered them months ago (they take about six weeks from the time you order till you actually receive them) but with the hassle of them getting lost and it taking what seems like forever to get here I've run out. Really bad timing with the whole not wanting to lose money this year, but hey, more of a reason to have a sale right?

I'm mainly posting to use my new icon. But while I'm here I'll point out the recent additions to the store. The first being the hemp fleece. I also added two new sets of stitch markers.

Oh, and a reminder: scan a new picture of the french terry.

So I'm not yet convinced that the ibook is completely fixed. Luckily the repairs have a 90 day warranty, so I have some time to become more convinced before that runs out.

In website news, I haven't fixed all the colors yet, but I did manage to find the right template, so it at least looks more like it use to. Plus I like the default color scheme of this template much better than the other one. Sorry but some of those colors just did not go together! I think I'll leave it for now. It's really frustrating trying to decipher what's what in the stylesheets.

I'm trying to get back into working more. Which is a very good thing. The last couple of weeks my husband was on vacation and not much work was done. Usually when he's home I try to get more done, but instead this time we actually went places. Instead of hiding in my office and sewing we went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. We also spent a day hanging out in Santa Cruz. There was much sitting on the floor and playing with our son, and many trips to the local tea house. Oh, and of course making sure we were home at the right times for various deliveries (the ibook, the hemp and a bulk foods order from azure standard).

This week I plan to add the hemp fleece and a couple more sets of stitch markers.

ibook still gone, more hemp available, and upgraded shopping cart in the wrong color scheme

September 24th, 2006 (05:25 pm)

So my laptop still isn't back yet. They've shipped it though, so I'm hoping it will be here Monday. Even more so I'm hoping it will be fixed. They were having trouble duplicating the problem, so who knows.

I did however get another package on Friday....more hemp fabrics. I now have more french terry and also fleece! It's a new addition to our line of hemp/cotton fabrics and I'm glad that we now offer it. It won't be listed on the website until after I get the ibook back and scan the fabric and all that. If you'd like to order some before I get that done email me or comment here and it can be arranged. It's the same price as the french terry.

One more thing, my hosting company decided to upgrade the version of MySQL on their servers. This caused all sorts of issues with my shopping cart. I use zen cart by the way. So we had to upgrade to the newer version that supports the newer version of MySQL. Which I'd wanted to do eventually anyway, but now had to be done sooner than planned. Everything seems to be working other then my style sheet, so the colors are all off. I'll be fixing that too once I get the laptop and a couple hours free to figuring out what's wrong with it. That might not happen for a week or so, in the mean time you should still be able to place orders.

sad

current mood: sad

I'll be offline for a few days, roughly 6-8. The ibook has to go in for repairs. I will still be checking orders and shipping things out, I just won't be online much. Luckily the shopping cart is web based and I can login to that anywhere. I'll be using my husbands computer when he's not on it, but it's not configured the same as mine and more importantly doesn't have all my passwords stored. (I love keychain)

Yeah so business as usual, in fact I might even get more work done seeing as I won't be online all the time!

See everyone in a week or two.

new stuff in stock now! Wet bags and more...

accomplished

current mood: accomplished

About a month ago I added some stitch markers and thought I'd posted about them here. Looking back, it seems I didn't. oops. Well, I have a couple sets available and will probably be adding more in the next couple weeks.

I've been working on wet bags for what seems like forever. I wanted to have several colors available when I added them to the site. As with everything it took longer than I'd hoped, but they're done! You can see them here. They're currently listed as a sub category under cloth bags, and I might move them to a main category rather than the sub-category. I'm not sure though. Opinions anyone?

One more new thing, we now have hemp/cotton jersey. We've stocked the french terry since opening, but now we have both.

and a couple pics for the road...

change is comin' round here

May 2nd, 2006 (09:58 pm)

All our cloth grocery bags now come standard with snaps. I've decided that the snaps really are what make our bags stand apart form most cloth bags. Plus anyone who's seen the bags with snaps wants them that way. So rather than having it as an option and having to put them on every bag order before I ship them out they all now come with snaps. It's taken a few days worth of nap times, but they've all been snapped.

Also, I've noticed some fading on the entire bolt of lavender bull denim, located on the crease. So from now on I'll make sure to cut around that line. While it's not very noticeable It would bother me to send out bags with this flaw as firsts. The bags that I'd made prior to noticing this have all been marked as seconds and are now listed at $10 each. A great deal, seeing as there are no flaws other than a faint line (located on the back of the bags) where the fabric faded along the crease.
